Meeting with the Speaker of Lebanese Parliament

On March 14, 2015 the Speaker of Lebanese Parliament Nabih Berri received the Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Hranush Hakobyan, who paid a working visit to Beirut.

The Minister of Diaspora emphasized that the Armenian people will always remember with gratitude the Arab World, particularly the people of Lebanon for assistance provided, thanks to which Armenians found salvation and shelter, settled, integrated and was actively involved in political, socio-economic and cultural life of the country. Hranush Hakobyan expressed her gratitude to Lebanese Parliament which in 1997 and 2000 adopted two resolutions recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

Minister Hakobyab briefed the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament about forthcoming events on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide to be held in March-April in Armenia and in other countries of the world.

The interlocutors highly appreciated the role of the Lebanese Armenian community in development of Lebanon, as well as in expansion of collaboration between Lebanon and Armenia. During the meeting perspectives of exchange of high level delegations and issues regarding participation of Lebanese high level Parliamentary delegation in the events which will take place in Yerevan were discussed.

Ambassador of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharian, counselor of the Embassy Ashot Vardanyan and the adviser of the Speaker of Lebanese Parliament Ali Hamdan were present at the meeting.
