One-Day Training Workshop for students on “Motherland-students and law on Dual Citizenship”

On February 8, 2014, the Student Committee of the Armenian Catholic Mesropian High College in collaboration with the Embassy of Armenia in Lebanon organized one-day training workshop for students on “Motherland-Student and the law on Dual Citizenship” in “the Mesropian High College Faradjian” auditorium.
The students of 11 Armenian Schools of Lebanon participated in the seminar. After the national anthems of the Republic of Armenia and the Mesropian College the President of the Student Committee of Mesropian College Meghry Tcharekian delivered her opening remarks. Then the Principal of Mesropian College Mr. Greguar Galust spoke about Armenia-Diaspora relations and stressed the importance of the participation of Lebanese Armenian students in the development of Armenia-Diaspora relations. He expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharian, lecturers of the seminar, as well as the principals, teachers and students, who participated in the seminar.
In his speech Ambassador Ashot Kocharian briefly presented some details relating to the path and challenges which independent Armenia went through during last 22 years, the activities of the diplomatic missions, as well as developments in Armenia-Diaspora partnership. The Ambassador emphasized that Armenia is ready to host the Armenian students in the framework of the annual programs organized by the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia. He stressed the importance of the “Ari Tun” program, which gives the students an excellent opportunity to get closely acquainted with Motherland and the cultural heritage of Armenia. Ambassador highly appreciated the active and comprehensive activities of the Mesropian College carried out through its 75 years of existence, which has its unique importance and value in terms of education of young generations .
Mr. Shahan Kandaharyan, editor-in chief of the “Azdak” daily newspaper, briefly presented the law of dual citizenship of the Republic of Armenia and some of its important provisions. The Principal of school Nazareth Jerejyan in his speech underlined the importance of Motherland-student relations. Students asked some questions to the speakers and actively participated in the discussions of reports. The attendees watched also a video film about Armenia.
