Protests in front of the Hungarian Embassy in Beirut

On September 6, 2012 hundreds of students and representatives of youth organizations of Armenian political parties organized a demonstration in front of the Hungarian Embassy in Beirut on the occasion of the transfer by the Hungarian authorities to Azerbaijan of the criminal Ramil Safarov who killed the Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan during the NATO seminar in Budapest. The murderer then was pardoned by the President of Azerbaijan and glorified as a national hero. Participants of the rally were carrying Armenian and Lebanese national flags and slogans with the following content: ,,Hungary! You became a partner in committed crime, You are encouraging Azerbaijan in spreading anti-Armenian hatred among their citizens, Do not say sorry, recognize Republic of Nagorno-Karabagh, you are accused of violating international justice and law,,. During the protest leaders of Armenian political parties had a meeting with Ambassador of Hungary Laslo Varadi and hander over the letter of protest condemning the Government of Hungary for transfer of Azeri murderer to Azerbaijan who was immediately granted by the President of Azerbaijan and proclaimed as a national hero.

Lebanon-Armenia Friendship Association and Association of Armenian businessmen of Lebanon also expressed their attitude concerning the Hungarian-Azerbaijanian deal.

Statement by the Lebanon-Armenia friendship association

The decision of the Government of Hungary to extradite the Azeri murderer Ramil Safarov and the decision of Azerbaijan to grant him a pardon have generated deep frustration and serious concern among the members of the Lebanon-Armenia Friendship Association. This fact is a pure manifestation of violation of international commitments, principle of justice, universal values and human dignity and undermines all the peace efforts.

Statement by the Association of Armenian businessmen of Lebanon

The decision of the Government of Hungary to extradite the Azeri murderer Ramil Safarov and the decision of Azerbaijan to grant him a pardon have caused a deep frustration and anger among the members of the Association of Armenian businessmen of Lebanon . This fact is a pure manifestation of violation of international law, principle of justice and universal values. It seriously threatens the peace and security in the region. This odious act should be condemned by international community.
