Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan had a meeting with the Mayor of Beirut Bilal Hamad arrived in Yerevan to participate in the events held on the occasion of Yerevan declaration the World Book Capital.

Greeting the colleague Taron Margaryan introduced in brief the system and the priorities of Yerevan governance, outlined the importance of proportional development of the city and noted that certain steps had already been taken in this direction the results of which will be seen in the nearest future.

"I think that Yerevan and Beirut have wide range of possibilities and perspectives for cooperation both in experience exchange in the field of governance and in various spheres of urban economy. To make our cooperation more practical we are to create a working team which is to study the issue thoroughly and present clear propositions outlining the precise directions for the cooperation development", said Taron Margaryan attaching particular importance to the circumstance that Yerevan and Beirut had been sister cities since 2000.

Expressing gratitude for warm welcome the Mayor of Beirut Bilal Hamad stressed the important role and significance of Beirut Armenians in the life of Lebanon and expressed confidence that the relationship between Yerevan and Beirut will become closer and more practical in the future. "Our cooperation in the direction of finding joint solutions, experience exchange is very important, especially taking into account the fact that in some cases the specific problems of the two cities are similar", said Bilal Hamad and taking the opportunity invited Taron Margaryan to pay an official visit to Beirut to discuss the issues of cooperation expansion and relationship strengthening between the two cities more thoroughly.

At the end of the meeting Taron Margaryan once again stressed that the Municipality of Yerevan is open and willing to discuss support within its powers the implementation of investment projects in Yerevan.
