Meetings with PM and Speaker of Parliament of Lebanon

On February 14, 2015 Ambassador of Armenia to Lebanon Ashot Kocharian was received by the Prime Minister of Lebanon Tammam Salam and the Speaker of Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri.

During the meetings issues regarding the development and expansion of Armenian-Lebanese bilateral cooperation were discussed. Importance of the exchange of high level visits both on governmental and parliamentarian levels was highlighted. The sides expressed their conviction that exchange of high level visits will promote further development of Armenian-Lebanese collaboration in all spheres and strenghtening of friendship between two countries and people. Ambassador Kocharian reiterated his gratitude to Lebanese people and Lebanon whose parliament in contrast with other countries of the region recognized the Armenian Genocide. Ambassador highly appreciated a brotherly attitude of Lebanon towards the Armenian community. The sides underlined that the Armenian community of Lebanon, being a reliable and strong bridge between two friendly countries and people, preserved its rich culture and values and actively participates in political, socio-economic and cultural life of Lebanon.

Upon the request of the Lebanese side Ambassador Kocharian presented some details on the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide which will be held in Armenia as well as the joint efforts undertaken by Armenia and OCSE Minsk Group aimed at the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh issue.

Issues relating to regional developments and internal political situation of Lebanon have also been touched upon.
