On Fabruary 6, 2017 Ambassador Samvel Mkrtchian met with Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Hariri. Congratulating the Prime Minister on his appointment and formation of the new cabinet, Ambassador Mkrtchian referred to the historical bonds existing between Armenia and Lebanon, long friendship of the two peoples and high level political relations.
Ambassador stressed the importance of developing trade and economic relations and stimulating tourism aimed at complementing and further strengthening the level of cooperation. The importance of regular high level visits was underlined.
Ambassador briefed the Prime Minister on Armenia’s investment opportunities and reforms being undertaken by the Government of Armenia, which intend to create more favorable conditions for business, simplify and clarify procedures.
The positive experience of the Lebanese companies successfully operating in Armenia and the necessity of its publicizing was underlined. Increasing flow of tourists in recent years as well as the prospective cooperation of two countries in this field was mentioned.
Prime Minister Hariri also emphasized the need to boost economic ties between the two countries, at the same time expressing his willingness to prioritize development of relations with friendly Armenia in the framework of the Government’s activities and put efforts to that effect.
The sides discussed the possibilities for convening the next session of Armenian-Lebanese Intergovernmental Commission in 2017.
